Peter Spies, Chartered Agriculturalist (CAg), B. App. Sci. Rural Technology (Hons), Assoc. Dip. Rural Tech (Agronomy). (Chair of NACs)

Peter is an Agronomist and Soil Scientist who specializes in soils. Having worked in Agriculture for 30 years, he specializes in land suitability, agronomy and feasibility for cropping and pastures, soil carbon, soil conservation, N & P use efficiency, soil biology and grazing land management. Peter has undertaken soils mapping across over 140,000 Ha and has worked with soils across Queensland and NSW. He also has interests in tropical pastures and runs a seedstock operation breeding tropical composite cattle on the Atherton Tablelands. Peter has served on several boards and was a technical adviser on reef issues to Industry. He has been involved in a number of suitability searches of Land for pongamia on existing cleared pastoral holdings. Peter wrote one of Australia’s first Soil carbon Land management strategies (LMS) for the Wilmot Cattle Company, when a Soil Science advisor with Resource Consulting Services (RCS) in 2019. Greg Mason – Agribusiness Development and Regional Economic Strategy Specialist

Greg Mason is an experienced agribusiness and regional development specialist with more than 25 years of service with the Queensland Department of Primary Industries (DPI). Holding a Bachelor of Business (Agribusiness) and an Associate Diploma of Applied Science (Rural Techniques) from the University of Queensland, Greg has built a strong reputation for supporting agricultural growth, industry diversification, and regional economic development across Northern Australia. Throughout his career, Greg worked as both a Senior Farm Financial Counsellor and Senior Agribusiness Development Officer, assisting producers, agribusinesses, industry groups, investors, and government agencies to develop commercially viable agricultural enterprises. His expertise spans agribusiness development, strategic planning, business restructuring, investment attraction, feasibility studies, financial modelling, supply chain development, and land and water resource planning. Greg has led and contributed to numerous regional development projects, including agricultural economic profiling, irrigation and resource assessments, cotton industry expansion, sesame supply chain development, grain processing infrastructure, and new cropping opportunities across North-West Queensland. He played a key role in delivering initiatives under the North-West Queensland Economic Diversification Strategy. Greg combines strong commercial acumen, practical agricultural knowledge, and strategic regional development expertise to create sustainable agricultural industries and resilient regional economies.

Dr Kalpana Pudasaini

Kalpana has more than a decade research and teaching experience in soil health, nutrient dynamics and sustainable regenerative practices in Australia and overseas. Currently, she has been investigating strength and weaknesses of various soil carbon standards and methods, carbon accounting and regional development. She has a PhD in Soil and Environmental Chemistry from CQ University, Australia, and BSc and MSc in Environment Management with Distinction. Over her academic career, she has been awarded with several national and international awards for her academic and professional achievements, and published dozens of journal articles in scientific peer reviewed journals. Over the past decade, Kalpana supported more than a dozen of commercial farmers and Agribusiness in carbon feasibility analysis and evaluations, carbon project mapping, registering soil carbon projects with the Regulator, developing LMS and carbon offset reports including several carbon advisory services.
